We are a team of passionate web developers, affiliates, and advocates for transparency in the web hosting industry. Our mission is to expose unethical practices, raise awareness about deceptive marketing, and help others make informed decisions. Our journey started with GreenGeeks, a hosting provider that lured us in with eco-friendly claims, but soon after, we experienced firsthand their misleading practices. This page tells our story and why we are committed to helping others avoid the same pitfalls.

How It All Began: Believing in the Green Energy Promise
Introduction
Our Mission: Exposing Unethical Practices in Hosting
We are a team of passionate web developers, affiliates, and advocates for transparency in the web hosting industry. Our journey in the affiliate space didn’t start with GreenGeeks—we were already working with other hosting affiliates. However, as we discovered GreenGeeks and their message of eco-friendly hosting, we gradually shifted our focus to them. We pledged our referrals solely to GreenGeeks, believing in their green energy initiatives and seeing it as a genuine business model. Since we operate legitimate businesses, we had no hesitation in fully committing to GreenGeeks.
How We Generate Referrals:
Our primary business involves building and flipping websites on online marketplaces. Website buyers, typically random users, often need hosting services to host their newly purchased sites. When asked for hosting recommendations, we referred GreenGeeks as a trusted, eco-friendly solution. This allowed us to refer genuine customers who were actively seeking hosting solutions.
Our Story with GreenGeeks
How It All Began: Believing in the Green Energy Promise
Initially, we had partnered with multiple hosting providers, but GreenGeeks’ eco-friendly claims stood out. The idea of promoting a hosting provider that offset its carbon footprint was compelling, so we started dedicating more of our referrals to them. Since many of our website buyers needed hosting solutions, GreenGeeks was the natural recommendation, and we believed we were helping clients choose an eco-friendly, reliable hosting provider.
The Issues We Faced
Silly Reasons for Suspension: Excuses After the Fact
*After the account suspension, GreenGeeks cited ridiculous reasons, such as someone not uploading a website after purchasing hosting or a customer signing up from a different origin location. They even returned to the surge in signups as an issue, even though we had already explained the situation to their satisfaction.
Had they suspended our account without understanding the reason behind the surge, it could have been seen as a mistake. But suspending it after knowing full well that the signups were legitimate seemed intentional. It became clear to us that GreenGeeks wasn’t going to release our commissions easily, and they were looking for any excuse to withhold payment.*
Why We Took Action: Warning Other Affiliates and Buyers
*After months of being deceived, we knew we needed to take action—not just for ourselves, but for others who might fall into the same trap. GreenGeeks was holding back commissions without valid reasons, and we realized that simply writing reviews and warning people online wasn’t enough. They might use their influence on platforms like Trustpilot and Reddit to bury our complaints under fake reviews or have our posts removed.
To warn others effectively, we launched this website to share our story and help others avoid the same pitfalls. We don’t force anyone to steer clear of GreenGeeks, but we urge you to think twice before trusting their affiliate program or hosting services.*
Affiliate Cheating: Missing Referrals and Manual Corrections
One of the more concerning practices we encountered was GreenGeeks’ tendency to miss adding affiliate referrals. On multiple occasions, referrals that should have been tracked to our affiliate account were omitted. When we inspected and discovered the missing referrals, we contacted them, and only then were the referrals added manually. It seemed like they were trying to cheat affiliates by not adding legitimate referrals until they were confronted. This happened repeatedly, and each time we had to ask manually. Eventually, when they realized that this tactic wasn’t working on us, they decided to suspend our account entirely, withholding over $3500 in commissions. You can refer to the two email screenshots below from a couple of my emails, which show that they added referrals upon my request after initially trying to overlook them.
Account Suspensions Without Reason: When They Waited for Payout Time
One of the most frustrating moments was when GreenGeeks suspended our account right before the payout week. If they had legitimate reasons to suspend the account, why not suspend it earlier? Instead, they waited until it was time for payment, withholding all commissions. We had been referring customers steadily with typical signups ranging from 4-6 per month. However, in one month, our signups surged to 15+ referrals. When GreenGeeks questioned the surge, we provided a full explanation regarding the legitimacy of the signups, detailing where the referrals came from. GreenGeeks seemed to accept our explanation, but instead of raising any further concerns, they waited another month, allowing us to refer 20+ additional customers, before suddenly suspending the account right as payments were due.
Why We Are Speaking Out
Exposing Greenwashing and Affiliate Exploitation
We believe in transparency, ethical marketing, and sustainable business practices. GreenGeeks’ use of misleading eco-friendly claims—what’s known as greenwashing—and their unfair treatment of affiliates is unacceptable. We feel it is our responsibility to expose these practices and warn others, whether they are potential customers or affiliates. We want to help others avoid the mistakes we made and make sure that hosting providers are held accountable for their actions.
Our Mission Moving Forward
Advocating for Ethical Web Hosting and Why This Site Exists: A Permanent Warning
We are committed to raising awareness about unethical practices in the web hosting industry. We believe that customers and affiliates deserve transparency, honesty, and reliable service. Our mission is to promote web hosting providers that uphold these values and provide genuine eco-friendly solutions. We hope that by sharing our story, others will make more informed decisions and help push the industry toward more ethical practices.
I know that no matter how much evidence I provide, GreenGeeks will not pay what they owe me. My time is far too valuable to waste chasing after them for commissions they’ve wrongfully withheld. That’s why I decided to launch this website—to tell my story and warn others. This site will serve as a permanent reminder of GreenGeeks’ unethical practices, ensuring that others don’t fall victim to the same deception.

Our Regret and Promise to Those We Referred
